Welcome to ELCIFAS!
Edmonton Low Carb and Intermittent Fasting Awareness Society welcomes you to our new web location as of summer 2019! [And thanks to Archer’s Green Living for subsidizing our new home on the web.] If you’ve followed us from our recent 3-year presence on Meetup.com as KETO – YEG, then a special welcome to you as well!!
We will be continuing with our group get-togethers that include both learning and socializing opportunities. With this new platform, we should be able to add back features like discussion pages and access to archived reference/resource material (like the popular list of low-carb-friendly doctors in Edmonton) as well, so stay tuned as that is set up over the next number of weeks.
Our ELCIFAS group – which is a registered Society in Alberta – is continuously accepting interested members. A purchased “Grassroots” membership (basic level) for $6 per year will allow members to view at their leisure all the details of upcoming meetings and events. Most events will have their own (separate and additional [typically $5 each]) event charge. Have a look at the membership information here. In addition to our online resources, we hope to continue to welcome often our great and amazing members to share their learnings and experience with each other in a friendly, accepting, and low-key face-to-face group.
If you are not yet a member, but would like to check out the events we host, drop us an email requesting an invitation to the event you are interested in. You will have 2 free invitations (but remember, most events will have their own separate and additional event charge that you would pay) to events we host, before you would need to sign up as a member, so that you can get a sense of what they are like. Send us an email requesting an invitation to the next event, and bring your interest, enthusiasm, and questions!
Across our membership, we are a mix of individuals with various backgrounds and experiences. Many – but not all – became interested in alternative diets like Low Carb, KETO, Intermittent Fasting and Multi-Day Fasting due to illness, chronic disease, or weight issues, and many in the group personally, or within their family, have experience with Type 2 Diabetes. Some have already successfully used the low-carb-high-fat (LCHF) and KETO approach to meet their health goals, and many others are in the process or just beginning – so you are likely to meet someone at the group with a similar situation as your own.
